QUADCOPTER DRONE
CHAPTER FOUR: TIME TO FLY
The Quadcopter Drone
In the cotemporary time, drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) are basically used for aerial operations. They find applications in several fields of life. In farming and agriculture they are used for aerial application of agro-chemicals on crops or across places which are normally not physically accessible. In the military, drones are used for video spying, or monitoring of a place. This is achieved by attaching a camera to the drone. Military drones are also used for weapons carriage and delivery. In other spheres of life, drones can be used for video coverage of events, or elevated places, such as sports, ceremonies, activities on high buildings, etc.
I produced this CAD model of a drone during the first semester of my final year as an undergraduate, as an assignment for a CAD/CAM course we offered at the time. The 1week long homework earned me an 'A' in the course.
The drone is mainly designed for aerial video coverage or spying, as can be seen from the little camera attached beneath the base. Since it flies on four propellers/rotors, powered by four different engines, it is termed a "Quad"-copter Drone. The flight of the drone is controlled by a hand held drone radio transmitter.
The process of rendering a 3D model creates a lifelike or non-photorealistic effect on the 3D image. The last image of drone is a rendered version of the drone.
