2D MACHINE COMPONENTS DRAWINGS
CHAPTER ONE: THE 2D- BEGINNINGS
At the foremost of my CAD drawing expedition, I started with getting my hands dirty with 2D orthographic machine-components section drawings. 2D drawings are plane views of objects. Rear, front, side and top elevations are the viewing perspectives of 2D drawings. None these views individually gives a full aspect of the object in question; but are imaginatively combined to make an isometric or 3D projection of the object. For your 2D drawings, you will find AutoCAD your best companion. In fact AutoCAD is currently the best CAD software for making 2D sketches of any kind. Below are some dimensioned 2D section drawings I made with the software. They are made from intricate combinations of basic 2D primitives such as lines, circles, arcs, rectangles, etc. Modifying tools such as fillet, extend, trim, mirror, offset, etc., are used to manipulate these primitives, to achieve desired drawings.
With time and more practice, I tried out 2D drawing of more complex real life objects like, a motorcycle and some basic engineering hand tools.
